FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Products and grades
What products do you carry?
Matcha from Uji, Yame, Shizuoka, Kagoshima and Miyazaki; hojicha and genmaicha powders are coming. You can filter every product by grade, origin and certification in the catalog.
How do the grades differ?
All of our matcha is for lattes, divided into three grades by harvest and milling. Premium is first flush, stone-milled. Standard is first flush (or first and second flush), machine-milled. Basic uses second flush and later leaves. See the grades page for details.
Which grade should I choose?
As a rule of thumb: Standard for your everyday latte, Premium when you want matcha to lead, and Basic for sweetened drinks or menus with a lower cost per cup. We send up to 3 samples so you can compare them with your own milk.
Do you have organic, halal or kosher products?
Yes. Filter by “Certification” in the catalog. We can also provide copies of the certificates.
Can you adjust the flavor for my shop?
Yes. We ask about the milk and sweetness you use and adjust the combination of tea leaves (the blend). We record the blend we settle on so every order tastes the same.
Orders and payment
What is the minimum order?
1kg per product.
How quickly will I get a quote?
Within 1 business day, with product, shipping, duties and taxes listed separately. Contact us through the sample request page.
How can I pay?
Prepayment by Wise or PayPal, in US dollars (euros are also accepted). We ship once payment is confirmed.
Can you deliver regularly?
Yes. We set a monthly quantity and delivery date and ship on a regular schedule. You can change the quantity along the way.
Shipping and duties
Where do orders ship from?
Directly from the producers’ factories and warehouses in Japan.
How long does delivery take?
In-stock products ship within 3 business days of payment. EMS takes about 2–3 days to Singapore, 3–4 days to Thailand, about 8 days to Indonesia, and 3–5 business days to the United States. Products ground to order ship about 1 month after payment.
Who pays duties and taxes?
For Singapore, we deliver with duties and taxes paid (DDP). For Thailand, Indonesia and the United States, your shop pays them on delivery (DAP).
How much is shipping?
Approximate EMS rates: samples (up to 500g) US$13, 1kg US$20, 5kg US$52, 20kg US$148. To the United States: samples (up to 500g) US$25, 1kg US$34, 5kg US$96, 20kg US$324. Orders of 100kg or more are quoted individually for air freight. We also ship by FedEx and DHL; those rates are given in your quote.
Can I buy without an import registration?
In Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia, the importing company needs a registration or license. If you don’t have one, we can guide you to work through a registered importer. See the country pages under Wholesale.
Quality and documents
How should I store matcha?
Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity. After opening, press the air out of the bag, refrigerate, and use it up soon.
Can you provide inspection documents?
We provide a specification sheet, a certificate of analysis (COA), a pesticide residue test and a certificate of origin. Ask us about any other documents your country requires.
Does the flavor change between lots?
Tea is grown in nature, so it varies slightly by year and harvest. It can’t be identical, but through long relationships with our contract farmers, and by checking color, particle size and taste for every lot and adjusting the blend, we ship consistent quality.
